Who is feeding you emotionally? Your emotional fitness is such an important part of your total health.
It's the one component of health that I think can cause the other components to fail. Think about it, have you ever suffered a significant emotional event that it caused you to lose your appetite for days or start overeating? Or have you been so depressed that you didn't have the motivation or energy to work out?
Your emotional state can even effect your decision making, thought process, and attention span. All of these can have a significant impact on the overall body.
We all sometimes need to lean on someone else for emotional support. But we have to be extremely careful as to who we allow to feed us emotionally. Running to the wrong person could lead to you slipping further into depression, or worse to slip even deeper into sin.
We should get emotionally fed by someone who serves as our biggest cheerleader, our best mentor, and our grandest supporter. They should be willing to listen and wise enough to comfort. But always be cautious. The world is full of hungry lions who look to take advantage of people during their moments of weakness.
Arnold Glasow said, "A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down." What about you? Do you have true friends in your life who will celebrate your mountain-top victories and loan you strength in the valleys?
