My mom had one of the craziest rules I ever heard. She would tell us that when we go to visit our family or friends, under no circumstance were we allowed to ask for or accept anything to eat. I thought this was crazy because growing up in the South, it was second nature to be hospitable. And 95% of the time, every house you visited, there was always something so delicious being served that it was torture to turn it down. From a sanitary viewpoint, my mom made perfect sense. Not everyone has the same sanitation habits so it's better safe than sorry.
Every one of us has a desire and need to be fed, either physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, financially, sexually, etc. But we have to be careful about the people we let feed us and what we are being fed.
The Power of One author Steve Maraboli said, “How would your life be different if...You were conscious about the food you ate, the people you surround yourself with, and the media you watch, listen to, or read? Let today be the day...You pay attention to what you feed your mind, your body, and your life. Create a nourishing environment conducive to your growth and well-being today.”
How are you creating a nourishing environment for your mind, body and spirit?
